Want to be involved in motor sport but don’t know where to be begin? Well why not take the first step and call our Chief Marshal – Go on, do it NOW! You won’t be disappointed – who knows, you may catch the bug and be the next World Champion - stranger things have happened!
Q: Well if I do sign up to marshal – how do I know what to do?
A: We will train you for starters – it all depends on how deep you wish to get involved.
You can be in charge of a full Selectif – this will take a great deal of knowledge but we can show you how. Maybe you just wish to start at a lower level and still have as much excitement by watching the cars go by – Man a gateway or do spectator control, full training is given…Oh yes, manning a gateway is a very important job and a requirement of the Road Traffic Act (RTA). Everyone is made to feel very important on the Rally Evolution – no job should be taken lightly and everyone’s help is greatly appreciated.
Cameras -
There is one big No, No, in Rally Marshalling and that is taking photos when carrying out your duties. However, speak with the Selectif Commander who will be understanding and arrange a period where you may be relieved of your duties to take photos for a short time – take turns between marshals – and rejoin at a designated slot. We all want something out of the sport as well as putting loads in. If we all pull together then everyone is happy and a safe and successful rally will be the outcome.
Volunteers -
Marshalling is a volunteer service – however, we at the Rally Evolution will reward you, with a commemorative badge each year. There maybe other goodies that come along but one of the main attractions is that you get to the heart of the Selectifs and see the action as it unfolds, where no-one else can get to. Marshalling can be very rewarding and there are many who make this side of the sport their own – rallying could not continue without the dedication and sacrifice that these volunteers put in week in week out throughout the country – THE WORLD!
